Antaya Acres Heritage Farm operates a heritage
farm and CSA program here in Silverwood, MI. We offer all natural grassfed
meats, beyond organic garden shares, and fresh eggs from truly free
ranged birds to our customers. We
deliver our wares to Rochester, Oxford, Lake Orion, Farmington, Southfield,
and surrounding areas.
Although we are not certified organic, no
pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, or chemical fertilizers of any kind
are used on our produce. All of our animals are raised free of hormones
or antibiotics. We
raise Tamworth, Large Black Hogs, Spots and Gloucestershire Old Spots
on pasture. Our pigs glean over 80% of their nutrition off of grass and
are only supplemented with 2 pounds of 15% hog feed per day during the
months when the pasture is readily available. In addition to the
grass, our pigs also enjoy a heavy diet of all natural foodstuff generously
donated by our friends and neighbors here in the community. A bounty
of apples, walnuts, pumpkins, pears and pulp are supplied by a network
of supporters to help us provide our hogs with a diverse and healthy
ration. This in helps us provide our customers with a final product that
would be hard o find anywhere else.
The pork from these heritage breeds, raised
with love in this natural stress-free environment is not easily replicated.
Each of the breeds we raise bring different qualities to the pork they
produce. It is truly a culinary adventure! In addition to these
majestic endangered hogs, we also raise Icelandic sheep, Icelandic chickens,
Muscovy ducks, and Heritage turkeys. Our farm continues to be a work
in progress, but we are so thankful to be able to share the rewards with
a warm and welcoming community of people who believe, as we do, that
there is a way to raise livestock that benefits us all.

Beery Farms of Michigan LLC is an 80-acre
farm on which I raise all-grass-fed beef and goats.
The farm is operated in the Argentine grazing style
using a diverse array of perennial grasses and summer-winter annuals
to meet the year-round forage needs of the animals. Like the Argentines,
the paddocks are divided to provide both annual and perennial forages
simultaneously for an always fresh high quality diet. By using stockpiling
in the fall and early greening small grains in the spring, it is only
necessary to feed hay and haylage during the most severe winter months.
The farm is in the third year transition to Organic
Certification. It is located just south of Lansing and visitors are always
welcome.

Bluebird
Meadows Farm is dedicated to raising grass-fed sheep and lamb.
We have a flock of 100+ ewes, and they live on lush,
green pastures throughout the entire growing season and on into December.
During the winter we feed them high quality hay raised and baled by us
on our farm. They have most of their lambs on pasture in May, the
very best time for a lamb to be born, and the lambs stay with the mother
rotating to a new pasture every 1 to 5 days until fall. By keeping them
on pasture with their mothers, we produce a very mild flavored, young,
tender, lean lamb.
We have the lambs butchered and processed by a local,
family-owned processing plant, and it is USDA-certified to be sold either
by the package frozen or by the whole or half lamb. If you purchase a
whole or half lamb, it can be custom processed and cut to your specifications.
We can ship frozen lamb, or you may also pick it up at our farm. We
also attend the Hillsdale County Farmers Market, Saturdays, 8am–noon,
mid-May through October.
There is an old farmhouse on the farm, which we run
as a bed and breakfast (see bbonline.com/mi/bluebird),.
This offers a unique opportunity to experience the farm life. Some families
like to come and spend the weekend on the farm and pick up their meat
at that time.

Earth Shine Farm is a
small, sustainable, family-run farm that cuts no corners in providing
healthy food, while treating our animals and the environment with the
utmost respect.
Our Gourmet Heirloom Chickens are Barred Plymouth
Rocks, the first breed admitted to the American Poultry Association well
over 150 years ago. They look, behave, and taste like their ancestors
did. In fact, they taste so deliciously different that one food writer
claimed they shouldn’t even be called chicken!
We raise our chickens on Michigan’s Saginaw
Valley pastures following the meticulous and humane French Label Rouge
standards. They live on the natural delicacies they forage, along with
certified-organic feed we grind fresh weekly to ensure maximum nutritional
value. We set our birds out immediately, not even waiting a week before
introducing them to grass, where they remain for a minimum of 84 days.
They’re processed on-farm using the ‘air chill’ method
that not only yields a superior product, but is also cleaner, less contamination-prone,
and more environmentally sound.
Unless you’re over a century-and-a-half old
(and if so, kudos!), we believe you’ve never tasted chicken like
ours. Purebred Barred Rocks like ours are a rare bird indeed. They don’t
grow on trees, but they sure love to roost in ‘em.
Visit our website and see what some truly great chefs
and gourmands have to say about Earth Shine Farm Chickens. We ship fresh-frozen.

The Ely Ranch is located in Northern Michigan just south of Michilimackinac. The Laughbaum family has raised truly free-range beef cattle here for over
70 years.
We are experienced in the nature of the cattle business and in the production of the best grass based forage possible. We are confident in our ability to grow exceptional beef and to guarantee quality assurance. The small scale herd that we run enables us to manage our cattle properly ensuring that our livestock is healthy and our pasture well managed.
Our cattle are also finished on some of the most nutrient rich feed (no grain) available. We hand pick some of our best steers and relocate them to areas where grass is lush and abundant. We find that our cattle do excellent in the supreme grass conditions of the Upper Peninsula and are at their peak before reaching the costumer.

Full Circle Organic Farm is an OCIA-certified
USDA organic farm. We have organic certified lamb, and
a CSA.
The CSA is 16 weeks of seasonal vegetables, herbs
and fruits. (All fruits in the CSA are limited this year as stock is
young—except raspberries and they will be in abundance!) If we
have a bumper crop of tomatoes, there will tomatoes available to members
for canning as a bonus. As we are dealing with Mother Nature, the ideal
is within our reach, yet she does keep us humble.
Your weekly box will actually be a large reusable
tote that is hand-assembled on the farm. We think they are quite useful
and proud of the craft and reusable quality. The tote size is equal to
about ½ to 1 bushel. (The volume is larger later in the
season with melons). We also will attempt to have a small nosegay of
flowers to brighten your day, but this will depend on how long we can
outwit the weeder geese who have an incurable fondness for flowers.
The cost for the full summer 16 weeks is $495.00.
Pickup is on Tuesdays from 4-7pm. Pay in full by Feb. 1, 2010 for a 10%
discount. Certified organic lambs can be reserved, please e-mail.

Laura’s Little Beef Farm LLC is a
family run operation at our home. My wife and I began this quest early
in 2005. Our first order of business is to raise meat in a manner that
we would be proud to provide to friends and family.
Preparing lush green pasture using recommended practices
found in Jo Robinson’s book, Pasture Perfect and Allen Nation’s
book, Quality Pasture really helped. We searched long and hard
for feeder steer to start our herd. We invested in heifers and cows to
start calving to build our herd along with steer so we could provide
meat this year (2006). The steer we raise meet all of our requirements
of no growth aids, steroids or antibiotics. They are raised on our beautiful
green pasture which receives no chemical pesticides or fertilizer. When
the pasture salad won’t support their needs we supply them with
quality hay. All of our fencing is smooth, high tension wire so there
are no barbs to stick the cattle, therefore reducing stress for our animals.
Your meat is slaughtered and dry aged then wrapped,
labeled and quick frozen in a family owned, USDA approved slaughterhouse/
butcher shop close to our home. We are located less than an hour from
northeastern Detroit. You are welcome to visit our farm, just give a
call and make sure we’re home. Don’t be alarmed if you pull
up to our pastures and you find us singing and talking to our animals.
We have found this to be very beneficial to a calm, healthy animal.
We sell our meat by quarter, half, whole, or special
steak/burger orders but we are not a supermarket or butcher shop. I would
be happy to discuss your family's meat needs with you to see if we can
help you fill them. We have customers that only want the steaks and burger
from the whole animal but then want the rest donated to needy families,
we do that.

Middlebrook Farm, located east
of Chicago, in Harbor County Michigan, was established in
1844. We purchased the 22-acre property in 2005. In December
2007, we left the city to live on the farm full time. Our
mission has been to return the land to the biodiversity of
the past, and to raise happy, healthy animals using the pasture
rotation method. With pregnant cows, a bull, steers, one
llama, numerous cats and two bee hives, our lives are full.
We raise Lowline Angus for beef and breeding
stock. We believe animals should be raised entirely on their natural
diet. Our cattle graze pastures of grasses, clover and alfalfa. In winter,
they eat lots of hay!. We use no chemicals on pasture, and our animals
receive no added hormones or antibiotics.
Studies show that 100% grass-fed beef are lower in
total fat and cholesterol. It is higher in omega-3s, CLA, vitamin E and
beta-carotene. Good things come from pasture salad mix!
Our beef is USDA inspected, processed and frozen
in individual packages. It is priced per pound. We sell direct to you
from our farm store. Honey and eggs are also available.
We are happy to e-mail a price list. Call to pick
up beef or to visit the farm. We deliver in the Chicago area. We'd like
to introduce you to our "happy" cows!

run farm in Imlay City, Michigan. SBF are known for their
fine meat and durable wool.
Our lambs are raised on organic, pesticide-free
pastures of alfalfa, fescue, bluegrass and clover. They don't need chemicals
or hormones to grow strong and healthy, just good management and healthy
pasture. Grass-fed lamb is lower in saturated fat and calories, higher
in omega-3 fatty acids, CLA and vitamin E. We believe healthy, happy
sheep make great tasting lamb. Mirror Lake Organics is 100% Mother Nature.
Fall is the time for freezer lamb. Our lambs are
born early spring and are a good market weight by November. They are
professionally processed at McNees Meats in North Branch, MI. We accept
orders for whole lambs, cut any way you like, or we can recommend our
favorites cuts. A whole lamb averages about 20 pounds after processing.
Your order comes completely frozen and labeled.
We occasionally sell individual cuts from our freezer,
like leg of lamb for a special occasion, just give us a call. We have Italian
sausage made in links or ground which makes awesome low fat/ low
sodium meat balls or a healthy breakfast sausage. We usually make this
part of your order.
We charge $260 for whole lambs; this includes processing.
We are a family of 4 and we go through about 4-5 lambs a year. Once you
are hooked it will become part of your weekly menu. We have some great
grilling tips and recipes, too. Email us and ask for our brochure and
recipe pages. You can order a half as well. If you can't find a friend
to split with, we probably can.
We also sell raw fleece, hides and horns. Fleeces
range from 4–7 lbs each and are a very healthy and strong fiber.
Call or e-mail us for more information. We charge $5.50 a pound plus
shipping. We can ship anywhere and bill you through PayPal. All our fleeces
are white. Our hides are professionally tanned and finish a beautiful
white with a staple length of 6–10 inches; they make a striking
and durable rug. We also sell ewe and ram horns. Send us an email for
pictures.
We raise guard llamas and sell their fiber, too.
All of our llamas are experienced sheep guards. We have a nice female
for sale now.

Providence
Farm is an 82-acre family-owned, USDA Organically Certified farm in
NE Indiana (a short drive from the Michigan state line) that produces
small quantities of superior quality all-natural pastured meat (beef and chicken).
Our farm has been chemical and pesticide-free for
nearly 27 years. All of our meat animals are raised on organic pasture
in the fresh air and sunlight. We raise 100% Angus beef cattle, individually
selected for superior grass genetics to ensure the highest quality grass-fed
beef. They fatten naturally (without grain) on the broad variety of fresh
forages contained in our pastures. Our beeves receive no grain, growth
hormones, steroids, antibiotics, wormers, animal by-products, growth
promoters, or feed additives. We offer Redmond salt, sea kelp and natural
source minerals on a free-feed basis. Our chickens are also pastured
out in the fresh air with plenty of sunlight. Our chicks are started
with organically certified grain. Their foraging diet consists of grasses,
legumes, bugs and grain that contains no hormones, steroids, antibiotics,
or animal by-products.
Our farm is small enough that we are able to put
a great deal of emphasis on the health of our land, our soils, our forages,
and our animals—and that careful management undeniably converts
to the health and goodness of our beef and chicken. We believe that it
is our role to be good stewards in caring responsibly and respectfully
for the land and the animals entrusted to us by God.
We offer freezer beef in whole, half, and quarter
portions in mid-September, and fresh whole jumbo roasters mid-summer
and late-summer. We generally have a supply of ground "All Cut Burger" year-round.
Our meats are delicious, tender, flavorful, loaded with the CLA that
comes from fresh green grasses and legumes, and (bonus!) good for you!

Sand Lily Farms is a 15 acre grass
farm in South West Michigan near Lake Michigan. We finish
Stocker Cattle on a diet of pasture/grass and a small amount
of sweet feed used to help us move the cattle. We get the
animals in the early spring and they are ready for pick up
usually in September or October in Holland MI. The beef is
dry aged and cut to your specifications. We sell a mixed
quarter so you can get some of all your favorite cuts.
The sweet feed is a grain based product
that is fed periodically to help us move the cows from one
area to another. (We have sandy soils and the rotational
periods must be longer.) It is necessary to cross a road
to utilize all of our pasture and the sweet feed is used
as bait to persuade the cows to cross the road. We do not
use growth hormones or antibiotics.
We take a deposit for each quarter of
beef of $100. Current 2007 prices are $3.00/lbs hanging weight.
We raise free range pasture chickens for
$2.40/lbs. Call or write to reserve for the next batch.

Sunshine Meadows Farm is a small,

night which protects them from predators. Grains that are free of by-products,
antibiotics or hormones is offered free choice. Spring of 2008 we will
be be transitioning to 100% organic grain to supplement their pastured
diet. Fall of 2008 should see the addition of duck eggs, too.
Chickens eggs are $3/dozen. Also available from May-September

Welcome to Swartz Organics, a small farm where the entire family enjoys our own home-grown food. Our all-natural products of "more than organic" chicken and grass fed beef are a testament to the quality of life available to all. We believe the quality of food in our diet is directly related to our overall life experience.
Our 4 1/2 pound broilers are home grown with care that can't be duplicated in mass production. Following initiation for 2 weeks in the brooder, they are moved to the pasture in chicken tractors where they are treated to a daily fresh smorgasbord of bugs, various grasses, and legumes. This all-natural environment enhances their health in every way and that quality transfers directly to your table. No medications, hormones, or chemicals for these birds! Their diet is completed with a 100% organic and balanced grain ration. The hand-processing is done on farm, where the meat is cleaner and less prone to contamination.
Delivery of the fresh-frozen chicken is available, though we encourage on-farm pickup, thereby ensuring 100% freshness and a heightened grower-to-consumer awareness/relationship.
Our growing Dexter beef herd enjoys a diet of pasture legumes and is complimented with free choice kelp meal. We employ the rotational pasture practice for both the chicken and beef.
It is good to know where, how, and who is producing your food. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you and increase your quality of life just a little!

Uphill Farm is
dedicated to raising and selling livestock and poultry that
has been raised in an environmentally and animal friendly
way. We are proud of the fact that we use no steroids, hormones,
growth enhancers or antibiotics in our feeding program. Confinement
housing is limited to a cozy hoop house for our layer hens
during Michigan's frequently rugged winter weather. Broilers
and turkeys are moved to clean grass daily; beef and
lambs are rotated based on pasture conditions and are finished
on grass. Hogs are fed corn along with their foragings for
grass and soil.
We have personally tasted the difference in grassfed
meats and are proud to offer these products of superior quality to our
customers. Eggs from our pastured hens are available year round.
Meats must be pre-ordered. We are adding a produce CSA in 2003 featuring
produce raised without chemicals, and many heirloom varieties.
Availability: Broilers (processed on the farm) June
through September. Turkeys: November. Beef, hogs and lambs: October through
November. Please call. We will be happy to answer your questions!

Windswept Farm Katahdin
Sheep. Our grassfed lambs spend their lives
grazing clean, chemical-free pasture. They receive no grain,
no growth hormones and no antibiotics. Of course, winter
in Michigan means snow-covered pastures, so the ewes get
alfalfa hay. Lambs are born in early spring and become
interested in feed other than mother's milk just in time
for the spring pasture. They spend the warm summer months
grazing and are finished by fall.
The meat from our Katahdin lambs is incredibly mild,
lean and tender. Dressed weights run between 48 and 65 pounds. Meat is
cut and wrapped to your specifications. Local delivery (within 50 miles)
can be arranged. For smaller amounts, or for specific cuts, please contact
us. Visitors are welcome.
